Regular lessons break for the majority of September as some of us travel to Shaolin, China. During the break it is very important to enjoy the time off, relax, and get other things done. It is also very important not to allow your training to slack. So for those staying in the US it is suggested that you keep a simple training routine to maintain your level of fitness and memory/polishing of skills.

Of course during a break, it is an opportunity to rest from the hard training through the year and complete other tasks in your life, or maybe do some traveling of your own.

Whatever you do, incorporating a simple routine into your day should be easy enough not to conflict with your schedule, yet challenging enough to serve as a maintenance routine.

Therefore, the following basic outline is for you to consider and structure your own training around. If you have less time just shorten the sessions. If you have more time extend each exercise.

The basic outline below is 60 mins per day.

(Using regular training hours for your routine [between 6-8pm] should make it easy to keep.)

Monday - 10 min qigong, 10 min running & jumps, 15 min basic leg techniques, 10 min stretching, 15 min meditation.

Tuesday - 10 min running & jumps, 30 min jibengong, 10 min stretching, 10 min meditation.

Wednesday - 10 min qigong, 10 min misc. warm-up, 20 min taolu, 10 min stretching, 10 min meditation.

Thursday - 10 min qigong, 40 min stance training, 10 min stretching.

Friday - 10 min intensive warm-up, 15 min jibengong, 15 min taolu, 20 min intensive stretching.

Saturday - 10 min running & jumps, 30 min strength & endurance training, 10 min stretching, 10 min meditation.

Sunday - qigong, meditation, rest.

That's it! Make a commitment and stick to it. It is absolutely possible for everyone to fit 30 minutes of training into one day. Shorten it if you must, but increase the intensity if you do.

Regular training will only get harder when we resume and move into the Fall Semester, with many plans ahead. So push yourself to keep up!
